Proceeds from Afternoon in the Country benefit Georgia Organics, Wholesome Wave. Global Growers Network, The Giving Kitchen, The Wylde Center, The Atlanta Community Food Bank and Atlanta Les Dames d’Escoffier International’s scholarship fund for women in the culinary, beverage and hospitality arts. Our 2016 event raised over $105,000 for our beneficiaries, and Afternoon in the Country has garnered a reputation as one of Atlanta’s most unforgettable food and wine tasting events. Then we’ll see HOMEPLACE, a 2019 film that celebrates farmer and Dame Jenni Harris. Jenni is the fifth generation to farm the land at White Oak Pastures in Bluffton Georgia. For 147 years, the land has been worked by the Harris family. But this is no ordinary farm. See how she and her family have transformed the farm, which has cattle, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits and an organic vegetable garden, into a truly sustainable business.
CUD, a 2009 co-production by the University of Mississippi’s Media & Documentary Projects Center & the Southern Foodways Alliance, is a documentary film by Joe York that profiles Georgia cattleman Will Harris. The film was screened around the world, including at the Atlanta Film Festival, the Going Green Film Festival in LA and the Reel Earth Film Festival in New Zealand. It was also nominated for the Chipotle Food that Matters Prize.
